Having had our fun with all four units, we're hard pressed to actually come up with a clear winner. It's obvious that all four units have a different take on what an 18.4-inch desktop replacement should be and have their own strengths, but it's also obvious they all agree that size is key here. The Acer Aspire Gemstone Blue 8930G here comes out tops in our books for its value and performance, but we didn't quite like its fingerprint magnet surface and glossy screen. Toshiba's Qosmio G50 feels like a traditional desktop replacement, huge and chunky with solid sound, but the dimmer screen was a letdown for sure.

Can the quad-core powerhouse deliver? The Toshiba Qosmio range of high-end multimedia notebooks has always been a little bit different, as it tries to mix unique style with some of the latest mobile technologies around. The Toshiba Qosmio G50-10H is a hulking 5kg in weight and isn’t the kind of machine you’ll want to carry around. The Toshiba Qosmio G50-10H is a great machine and the asking price is fairly reasonable for the specification and features on offer. We enjoyed using it and would have made it a Hot Product but for one fact: no Blu-ray.

With such outstanding style, performance and features, the Toshiba Qosmio G50-10H is very easy to recommend. While the lack of true HD-compatibility is unfortunate, this is still possibly the best multimedia laptop you can buy.

On balance, the $1,549 Toshiba Qosmio G55-Q802 is a groundbreaking machine at a reasonable price. If you’re willing to splurge to get FullHD and a Blu-ray player, the HP HDX 18 costs $600 more. However, the co-processor is an idea whose time may have come again—at least until Intel’s mobile quad-core processors hit the market—and Toshiba provides some useful power for video hounds.

The 18-inch laptop has truly come into its own, with recent systems from Sony, Acer, HP and now Toshiba threatening to clutter the desks of multimedia enthusiasts everywhere. The Qosmio G55-Q802 is the odd man out among this group in that it does not offer a Blu-ray drive or even the 1,920x1,080-Pixel resolution needed for true HDTV-quality video.
Toshiba's Qosmio G55-Q802 adds some dubiously useful gesture control gimmicks, but the real promise is in speedy video transcoding--as long as you use the right software.

This Qosmio is a stylish entertainment notebook with some cool features, including hand-gesture control and video-indexing capabilities. Its overall performance is respectable, but its Quad Core HD processor did little to improve our video-encoding experience.

Toshiba's flagship Qosmio media center line suffered a decline over the past couple of years. Although the first three Qosmios were awarded Editors' Choices, my enthusiasm for the line waned for lack of significant advances.
The Toshiba Qosmio G55-Q802 is an affordable media center laptop made for video editors who aren't performance seekers or feature hounds.

An interesting, generally well-built notebook with some unique features including top-class DVD upscaling and excellent speakers, the Toshiba G50-115 is tragically denied a potential Recommended Award by its poor screen. Other than this, however, it's a very good machine so if your budget stretches a little further and Blu-ray isn't of interest, one of the more expensive models with a better screen is worth serious consideration and should deliver the all-round multimedia excellence the Qosmio line has always been known for.

Comment
Toshiba: Toshiba est un du plus grand fabricant de portables international. Il existe beaucoup de revues pour des modèles de Toshiba. Les estimations des magasins allemands sont très positives, mais la relation du prix et de la valeur est plutôt évaluée moyenne. Les estimations pour les dispositifs et l'écran sont également bons pour des portables de Toshiba.
Ces cartes graphiques de milieu de gamme peuvent faire tourner tout les jeux récents de façon fluide. Les jeux gourmands ne peuvent être joués qu'avec les détails réglés sur moyen.
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT: Successeur de la 8600M GT et grâce à une production en 65nm la carte a une cadence plus élevée (Et donc plus rapide) avec la même production énergétique. De plus, il y a un processeur vidéo avancé (VP3) et HybridPower pour plus d’autonomie (en conjonction avec la 9100M G).

Intel Core 2 Duo:
C'est le successeur du Core Duo avec des pipelines 5-20% plus rapides sans consommation supplémentaire. Comme une addition à la conception du Core Duo là existe un quatrième décodeur, une SSE-unité amplifiée et une unité logique arithmétique additionnelle (ALU). Le core 2 duo pour ordinateurs portables est identique aux processeurs de core 2 duo d'ordinateur de bureau mais les portables fonctionnent avec des tensions inférieures et une vitesse de Frontside. L'exécution des portables également synchronisés est 20-25% inférieure à des ordinateur de bureau en raison de fréquence d’horloge inférieure de Frontside et plus lents de disques durs.
